Book Series

This cartoon is so true.

For me, at least. I love a good stand alone book, but I also like bonding with characters through a book series. In fact, I can be pretty down when I finish the series. There are some exception. Like some of the newer trilogies where each books gets worse in my opinion.

What about you? Stand alone books or series?

What's your favorite series?

YA authors--are you writing a series or stand alone books?

  1. I LOVE series. . .it takes the stress out of trying to figure out what to read next. Like you, I am often sad when a series ends. I hate series where the main character dies in the end, though. I also don't like having to wait for ages until the next book comes out. : ) I am working on a series. . .I am 20K words into book two, and I have plans for book three. : ) Thanks for asking!

  3. I prefer standalones. Often, I don't have the time (or money) to commit to a series, because I know if I like the first I'll likely read the rest even if they aren't as good just because I want to know how the storyline ends--totally happened with The Lunar Chronicles.

  4. I like both. Mostly I have favorite authors and I read all their books. When I was younger it was Matt Christopher's sports books.
